About the Studio
Amoire is about the collaboration of art, design, and materialization. A colour, a texture, or even a simple shape can initiate curiosity that fuels inspiration. Amoire provides architects and designers with both inspirational elements and products that are distinctly different from what they have experienced before.
One of the most striking visual features of moire sculpture is the translucency of the woven Stainless Steel Canvas. This draws the viewer to look inside the physical art.
Ralph Remo RussoLighting is what animates the moire geometry of the sculpture's three-dimensional forms and volumes. I started experimenting with this material in 1999. My imagination was aroused by the Active Parametric generated by the sculpted Moire Patterns.
My two creative objectives are to experiment with a material in order to discover its aesthetics and artistic properties — and to fashion it and produce art that awakens the child curiosity in all of us. You instantly know when this happens because the person viewing the art tends to sway back and forth as they fully experience the immersive optical effects.
Collaborating creative direction with interior designers, architects, and decorators is an enriching experience. As I learn the designer's project objectives, I'm inspired and start interpreting their vision.
